Atlas Trading & Shipping was formed when Grindrod purchased the external commodity trading & shipping operations of Seaboard Corporation of Kansas City, USA. The business is operated out of Dubai and South Africa and is a major trader and supplier of agricultural commodities worldwide.
Atlas Trading & Shipping, internationally markets wheat, corn, soybean meal and other agricultural commodities in bulk to third-party customers. These commodities are purchased worldwide with primary destinations in Africa, South America, the Caribbean, and the Eastern Mediterranean.
The division procures, transports and markets approximately 3.5million tons annually of wheat, corn, soybean meal and other agricultural commodities. The focus remains on the efficient supply of quality products and services to the wheat and maize milling and animal feed industries. The service of delivering commodities to its customers is primarily integrated through the use of chartered bulk vessels.
