Financial instruments include:
• Term loans
• Overdraft facilities
• Preference share funding
• Equity funding
• Financing of BEE initiatives
PROPERTY:
Grindrod Bank has a strategic focus on commercial and industrial property finance. It offers a variety of funding solutions including vanilla loans, mezzanine, equity and combinations of all three. The funding approach is individualised, placing reliance on the property fundamentals, the financial strength of the owner together with that of the covenant.
With national representation, the experienced team prides itself on quick turnaround times and personalised service.
INVOICE DISCOUNTING:
Invoice Discounting is a confidential facility designed to accelerate the working capital of a business. Essentially it is an ‘overdraft’ secured by a company’s debtors’ ledger.
Far more flexible than an overdraft, the facility caters for growth in the trading activities of the business, and for the fact that it is continually unlocking the value created by increased sales to a quality customer base. Invoice Discounting is ideal for growing companies in the corporate sector.
TRADE FINANCE:
Complementing the established invoice discounting business, and in conjunction with Rand Asia and China Construction Bank, the division also offers the specialised service of Trade Finance.

The bank has extensive experience in originating, negotiating and executing transactions across a range of corporate finance disciplines, including:
• Mergers and acquisitions
• Fairness opinions and valuations
• Due diligence reviews
• Capital restructurings
• Capital raising
• Initial Public Offerings (IPO's)
• BEE transactions
As a JSE Registered Sponsor and Designated Advisor, the team provides a comprehensive service to both listed companies and companies seeking to list on the main board of the JSE.
Grindrod Bank is the exclusive African member of M&A International Inc, one of the largest alliances of independent advisory and investment banking firms worldwide (47 member firms in 41 countries) and capable of undertaking acquisitions, divestitures, funding and joint ventures from identification to closure anywhere in the world.

The cornerstones of the business are investment performance, professional advice, personal contact and confidentiality.
Institutional Fund Management
Under the supervision of the Chief Investment Officer, the division provides discretionary investment management services to institutional clients looking for exposure to South Africa’s listed property sector.
Investment objectives are defined on a client-by-client basis and the appropriate level of risk is determined. Portfolios can be structured to generate a high level of current income or above-average capital growth or a combination of both. Portfolio administration is outsourced, allowing the team to concentrate on investment management.
Although the primary focus is on listed property, portfolios may be constructed using other asset classes to provide a combination of capital and income growth at an acceptable level of risk.
GAM manages the Nedgroup Investments Property Fund. This fund was the top performing fund in its category during its first year of management.
