RRL Grindrod is a 50% black owned joint venture between Solethu Investments and Grindrod. This business provides rail operations, shunting, locomotive leasing and rolling stock maintenance services, including supply of parts and components.
The business also builds, rebuilds and upgrades locomotives for clients as well as for its own lease fleet. New locomotives produced range from large main line 3000HP diesel electric locomotives to light weight shunting locomotives.
RRL Grindrod has operations in Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Republic of Congo and South Africa. RRL Grindrod's intention is to grow its locomotive fleet in order to continue to support and grow its client base and to position itself to capitalise on opportunities arising from rail investment in Africa.
The company is a registered permit holder with the National Rail Safety Regulator and is ISO 9001:2008 accredited.
