Grindrod Terminals own Walvis Bay Bulk Terminal (WBBT) in Walvis Bay. The WBBT dry bulk terminal is a privately run Grindrod terminal operation in the port of Walvis Bay and it has the use of 2 berths immediately adjacent to the bulk terminal facilities. The Terminal and its stockpile area is secured on a long term lease basis from the local port authority (Namport).
The terminal is a versatile discharging and loading appliance and handles imports and exports for the bulk industry in Namibia.
WBBT is also well positioned to service neighbouring counties via the Walvis Bay Corridor.
The terminal has an efficient conveyor belt system, its own ship loader, a mechanical stacking system, rail discharge facilities, open and covered storage and a screening plant.
The terminal currently handles metal ores and concentrates like lead, zinc, copper, manganese and also coal. Substantial developments are also under way t provide suitable facilities for products like sulphur and clinker, for the rapidly growing Namibian Uranium Mining and Cement Industries.
