In terms of the Listings Requirements of JSE Limited, companies are required to publish a Trading Update as soon as they become reasonably certain that the financial results for the period to be reported on next, will differ by more than 20% from the financial results for the previous corresponding period. Shareholders are advised that Grindrod expects its earnings per share and headline earnings per share for the six month period to 30 June 2008 to increase by between 55% and 75%, compared to the corresponding period of 2007 as a result of strong operational performance. The forecast contained in this Trading Update has not been reviewed or reported on by the company’s external auditors. Grindrod will release its interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2008 on or about 20 August 2008. By order of the board. 22 April 2008
